Conquer the Desert!

I'm watching the movie, "From Dust to Glory" for the upteenth time...and just got a goose bump moment... but before I get to the goose bump moment, let me tell you briefly about the movie. It's a documentary about the people that participate in the Baja 1000. The SCORE Baja 1000 is an off-road race that takes place on Mexico's Baja California Peninsula in late November. Sal Fish, CEO/president of the race's sanctioning body, SCORE International addressed the participants in a drivers meeting, prier to the start of the race in 2002 with the following words:
""You're about to experience a most incredible adventure. You must expect at all times to encounter oncoming traffic. You must be alert that there are many cows, calves, bulls, horses, and goats roaming freely on and around the course. All competitors are reminded that off-road racing is an inherently dangerous activity that can result in serious injury or even death. Due to weather, animals, and people, [we] do not guarantee that all [course] markings will still be up on race day. Be advised that spectators on or near the racecourse may engage in malicious activities by building ramps, digging ditches, and/or placing objects onto the course. Once the race starts, it's outta my hands--you're on your own, or, in other words, the lunatics will, indeed, be running the asylum. Good luck and have fun!"

These guys go out, spend so much money on these amazing machines...not because of the really "big purse" (because the money is no where near what it needs to be to pay for the cost of these machines) but because they want to show that they have the guts and the skills and the ability to conquer the desert!!! It all started with a desire....A desire to conquer what many say is unconquerable. As you can see from Mr. Fish's comment, they are on an incredible adventure, but will be up against many, many challenges. People watching will try and keep them from accomplishing their dream…they will even be "malicious" in how they try and keep you from doing it. It is dangerous and could result in death. They have to be alert at all times. However, the reward at finishing is one of the greatest rewards that these men will ever receive.

This race, reminds me a lot of how life works. It is an incredible adventure and there are people, along the way, that want to keep us from finishing the race, let alone win it. But, God plants a desire and passion in each and every one of us. 2 Timothy 1:7 says " For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline". We can't run a race like this if we are timid. Doubts and fears never got anyone anywhere. BUT, our God who is great and glorious has given us the tools we need to finish with winning colors. He has given us "Power, Love and Self-discipline". No matter what we face, no matter what circumstance comes our way, we can praise God because he will get us through it and help us conquer what comes our way.

What's your passion?
What is the race set before you?
What is your "desert"?

We can conquer the desert. We can follow our passion. Let God provide the spark and the planning for Jeremiah 29:11 says "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future" Failure is not an option. Unlike the Baja 1000, we do not have "idiot's running the asylum" because God is in charge of our race!!! How glorious is that?

WE CAN CONQUER THE DESERT!!!
